Remembering all our brothers

ReplyDeleteI have been working on some VA paperwork and it has forced me back to that time. I was assigned to LaSalle and STARK has never left me. I was part of the Rescue and Assistnce and sadly, mortuary detail that came abord to help and care for the dead. I have been struggling hard the last couple days as I sift through those memories in detail and stumbled upon your site. Not certain what to say here, just a moment of remembrance amongst those who were there and survived. I have never forgotten the fallen and I know I never will. Good Luck to you and God Bless all of our comrades, here and gone.

ReplyDeleteI understand completely where you are coming from. Thank you for your unselfish commitment to our brothers on STARK. I remember how great the LaSalle crew was to us during that "STARK-time". I can recall waking up screaming in pain on the LaSalle from severe smoke inhalation. We really needed your assistance.
I have recently reconnected with others like you that still struggle with those memories. I too still have moments and issues from my Stark experience and I "now" hope that they never go away because I want to remember what you did along with all my STARK family.
Feel free to add your thoughts and comments if you think it will help sort things out. I'm very glad to hear that you are working on your VA claim. Some of my STARK shipmates have yet to do so. One thing I know for sure it doesn't go away by ignoring it.
